Old Markham Village Ratepayers

Founded in the early 1990s, the Old Markham Village Ratepayers (OMVR) was formed to represent residents of the Old Markham Village in the preparation of a document to guide planning decisions for the community (OPA 108).

As an active participant in the public review process for the development of this plan, and the creation of the Village's Heritage Conservation District, the OMVR continues to advance the concerns of residents before Council and its various Committees.

Members of the OMVR are actively involved in the Markham Main Street Committee, the Markham Village Conservancy and several committees addressing traffic issues in the Town.

The Executive of the OMVR work closely with several neighbourhood groups within the Old Village in responding to land use change and related issues, and in bringing resident concerns to the attention of public decision makers. Meets every 4-6 weeks or more often as needed.

President: Ron Keeble, 471-4869

Markham Village Lower Eastside Initiative

A task force of Markham Village residents has formed to address the needs of the 150 year old residential community on the Lower Eastside of Markham Village.

The committee's primary task is to address safety in the area, which has rapidly deteriorated over the past year, due to traffic. Complementary traffic plans are currently being assembled.

If you are interested in assisting the committee, please leave a message from 9am to 5pm at 905-471-2605. Scott Brown, 471-2605
