Main Street Markham, in historic Markham Village, is a good place for business. If only because it has a BIA (Business Improvement Area) that has an excellent board of directors. We try to maintain a list of available properties on Main Street that may be suitable for your purposes which you can see by clicking here. However, a much better alternative is to contact the BIA office at 905-472-2462, or email . You can learn more about a BIA here.
Growth statistics in Markham are frankly phenomenal. With the improved accessibility of the 407, new developments have been built and many more have received approval from the Town of Markham. To the south, the Rouge River East has already been developed, in the east, Cornell is already half built and occupied, and on the north side of 16th Avenue, Greensborough and Wismer are largely completed and the list could go on.
These developments present businesspeople in the BIA with challenges and opportunities. I believe that the opportunities are very good.
Thanks to the Town of Markham Economic Development Office, we have available a significant amount of market research on the demographics and spending habits of the residents in our immediate, secondary and greater Markham area, which we are happy to share with interested business parties. You can see some of this data here. We also have detailed information on current and future developments in the area.
It is important to us that every business in Markham Village is successful - it is simply not to our advantage to have businesses that cannot succeed locate here. We have a thriving business community that has a great market potential, and has some significant retail mix improvements that we are seeking.
Please contact the BIA office and arrange an appointment.
